EXHIBITIONSano di Pietro. A small gem rediscovered
On the occasion of Monaco Art Week 2021 Moretti Fine Art is pleased to exhibit a remarkable small gold ground depicting the Madonna and Child, painted by the Sienese artist Sano di Pietro (Siena, 1405-1481).
As one of the most popular Sienese artists of the Renaissance, Sano di Pietro had a long and prolific career with an impressive number of paintings, now dispersed throughout the most important museums of the world.
The panel depicts an intimate moment of tenderness with the infant Christ hugging his mother and it was mostly created for a moment of private devotion.
