EXHIBITIONAnimal party

The human-like quality associated with animals throughout the history has entered the Iranian imagination from the book illustrations of old myths to the Coffee-House paintings of folkloric stories. The natural and artistic responses in the eventful works of Shadi Rezaei, Negar Jahanbakhsh, Shaghayegh Shojaian and Ramtin Zad evoke specific reactions in twilight worlds within a contemporary approach. This exhibition presents a careful selection of recently created paintings that meet and float on the borders between the powerful and the gentle, the familiar and the alien, the poetic and the literal as well as the old and the new.

In parallel, “CONTEMPORARY IRAN”
Will be presented by Magic of Persia at The Grimaldi Forum during Art Monte-Carlo

The contemporary Iranian art field has been growing in the global scene much faster than ever before. Its evolution in the 21st century is owed to not only the increased number of artists in the homeland and in the diaspora, but also to the Iranian curators and institutes whose involvement in the field have been immeasurable.

In collaboration with the Art Monte-Carlo 2018, Magic of Persia (A London-based Art Charity Foundation) will present a panel discussion and an exhibition titled Contemporary Iran.
The panel aims to discuss the contemporary condition of Iranian art both locally and globally from various aspects encompassing educational, artistic and economical angles. This exhibition presents a historiographical review of the formation of new art in Iran.
