Collection Fred Feinsilber, de Giacometti à Brauner

30.05.2026 - 02.06.2026

Sotheby’s Monaco is delighted to present a selection of works from the Fred Feinsilber collection, including an extraordinary group of works by Victor Brauner.

Born in Romania to a Jewish family originally from Bessarabia, Fred Feinsilber (1940–2021) settled in France after leaving Eastern Europe, and built a distinguished career as an industrial chemist before devoting himself entirely to the art of collecting: initially books, then tribal art and 20th-century modernism.

The sale, which focuses on his passion for modern art and design, brings together works by major artists including Pablo Picasso, Wassily Kandinsky, Jean Dubuffet and Alberto Giacometti. At its heart stands an extraordinary group of twelve works by Victor Brauner, reflecting the special affinity Feinsilber felt for the Romanian-born Surrealist. Comprising more than 300 works in total, the collection offers a vivid portrait of a passionate and discerning collector’s eye.

The exhibition Collection Fred Feinsilber, de Giacometti à Brauner, will be presented in Paris from 30 May to 2 June 2026.
